I really don't think we should be awarding stupidity, but maybe that's just me.

Maybe something like "10 biggest competition breakers", since in the last two months most of the charts have been thrashed. :(

I think I might be talking about the same thing that Quartz is, but last time around I suggested a top ten for people who dominated a single game (maybe 2 or 3), rather than did well across multiple games. It still seems like a fun idea to me.

Category: The Top Ten TSCers Of All Time

I want to put this out there before we begin: This will be our last top ten.

This will be the sixth iteration of the Top Tens, and we've had heaps of fun with it, and I hope you have too. But RPG and I are both tiring of it somewhat, and from a personal perspective as my involvement with the site lessens I'll find it hard to keep tabs on everything anyway.

However, fear not! I'm going to leave the topic open for another duo to take up. And the next time will be the Fifth Anniversary so make it big!

Anyway, on with the show. This top ten will, as the name suggests, list the achievements of the Top Ten of All Time: the very best of the best. Criteria will include:
* Level of awesome attained here, obviously
* Level of community involvement
* Invisible cool points accumulated over time
* Cool stuff done at other sites (The Elite, Fzero Central, mariokart64, etc - Cyberscore of course is not included)

The countdown starts now! 13 days to go!

For the next ones I think Thorn and Skylights would fit as thinkers. Both have competed on many games and know them well, are good players and are crazy TSCers that spend hours on our site checking its stuff.

I can throw my hat in the ring for helping with the next one, although my competition knowledge is limited to 2D players really. So long as we can still hit you and RPG (and everyone else, natch) for advice, should be all good.

thanks Zeupar. I did used to compete at SMBElite though (before it was called EliteScores), although it didn't last as long as I liked and it was pretty dead there most of the time. still, it was awesome being there and I learned a lot about Monkey Ball.

Welcome to The Top Ten TSCers Of All Time, our sixth and last Top Ten list.

For this iteration, we honour those who have made TSC what it is. Those that completely changed the face of competition, those that took it to unprecedented levels, and those who tried their little asses off but weren't quite good enough. (Bonus points for guessing who I'm referring to with this one after the Top Ten's over!)

RPG's leading off tomorrow with the #10, then it's back to me. It'll be set out like it used to be. And we promise we'll do proper bios this time. Or you can have my shiny Bronzong*. Or RPG's. I'm really not fussed.

The usual speculation should follow.

* I do not, in fact, have a shiny Bronzong, or even know what the fuck a shiny Bronzong is.

Shaun "Cybrax" Khoeis: The Innovator

And so, our Top Tens end the way they began. With one of the greats of the toughest competition of all.

To fully appreciate Cybrax's input to TSC, we have to go back to the very beginning. To the GameFAQs days. The days of 2 minute CE1s. When Cybrax had 1'53"70. He was that sort of player, obsessed with pushing the game to the limit. Of course, we know the limits better today, but that is no fault of the early players.

Mind you, it's not like there was no incentive to improve back in 2003/4. Back then there was SS101, Rayku, RPGnutter, and SM keeping him company at the top of the list. But Cybrax, like eredani and many of our other best players, had that nagging habit of getting a record back from a competitor in double-quick time.

The story, as compiled from previous Top Ten entries, of Cybrax's rise and fall is thus: In April 2004 RPG and SS101 attacked Cybrax's times fiercely to take the championship off him, which fell to RPG for a single day and then to SS101 until about August, when Cybrax went on his last rampage leaving everyone in no doubt who the champ was. And then Rayku came along to steal the throne. And so on and so forth.

A sad day passed on the 23rd of February this year when Jawzun made an incredible 1'10"60 City Escape 3, in the process taking Cybrax's very last untied record. But records are made to be broken, such is the nature of competition.

For the record, mike had initially rolled a 1 on the die (which would've corresponded to RPG) but then immediately rolled again.

he had a knack for to get you motivated and always liked to see improvements on any game he played on. I remember how excited he was on MSN messenger (I dont have it anymore so no) and all of the videos he'd send me (stupid dial-up back then).

So this point has a lot of weight... :s Cybrax wasn't even in the last Universal Top Ten.
